Tried digging straight down (via a safe technique), and eventually found this cave. FIRST GOLD I'VE FOUND SO FAR, FUCK YEH. Now I just hope there's more than this one block.

I got tired of dying every time I got a decent inventory of coal for smelting glass. I'll put it back on hard when I have enough resources, most likely after this run.

I think you'll need a diamond or a iron pickaxe to get the gold.

Oh well, too late now. Gold is just for kewl armour anyways.
EDIT: Wait, I though water+lava equals obsidian? Or does that not apply when it's natural?
