i checked out apple's website and look at iphone prices and saw an iphone 3GS 8GB at $99
i just cant afford the new ihpone 4 so i went to the mall to purchase the iphone 3gs instead
USD 99 = Php 5,000 (my estimate)
but when i asked for the price they said its worth Php 32,000
i asked them why does the apple website say its $99 and they said that they have no idea what i am talking about
can anybody explain this? |

So you are locked to that phone network (I think it may be AT&T) for two years. That means you can't use it with a different network or in a different country for the first two years. It's 99USD because AT&T pay subsidies to Apple for the contract.

So you are locked to that phone network (I think it may be AT&T) for two years. That means you can't use it with a different network or in a different country for the first two years. It's 99USD because AT&T pay subsidies to Apple for the contract. |

also they locked the network for two years within the contract?
what if i buy directly from apple? can i?
what is in the contract anyway? |

Its a 2 year service agreement, and if you buy it from Apple, then it would cost you 500 dollars.

| Probably means your initial fee is 99$. The one-off price to purchase the phone. Then you pay monthly payments for your contract. |

You are bound to a contract. However if you already have a SIM card you could attempt to buy a cheaper 3GS off of EBay and simply place your SIM card into the phone.
Note that not all retailers allow the SIM card to be taken out of their phone.

i already have a SIM card but i cant buy from ebay since i cant get my money online
where else can i get a cheaper iphone 3gs? |
