I hacked someone on FB, kept the account and haven't touched it since. 2 weeks later, the owner of the account threatened to claim this as ID theft to the NBI (whatever the NBI is).

If it's not your account, then yes it is Identity theft, even if you haven't used it for 2 weeks. That's like saying i stole a car but you can't convict me as a criminal because I didn't drive it for 2 weeks. If you don't want to be a ID Theftafist (lol), then return the account.

no, not really. you can hardly use the facebook account as proof of identity.

they can't do anything about it anyway besides complain and try to scare you.

You didnt really steal their identity only their account. But there can still be legal ramifications if he tells someone.

Well yeah, you hacked someones account, that's illegal. Also some stuff may be personal on there and there are a ton of laws against this.

It depends on how you hacked it and what you did with it. If you used software such as keyloggers to try and break into it, then ya you could get in trouble. But if he just had a really bad password and let it slip somewhere then no you won't get in trouble. And I don't think there's really any law against having a Facebook account with someone elses name on it.

So as long as I didn't use any program to hack it I'm safe?
