When I send BM_SETIMAGE to a button its visual styles are disabled and it looks like a button running on Windows 2000. Any idea?

Use something else like uh: WS_CLIENTEDGE, or some other window styles. I don't suggest WS_CLIENTEDGE cuz it looks bad.

Did you use InitCommonControls(Ex)? and XP manifest in the resources?
