I was able to edit most of my Stats values in GTA IV using Cheat Engine. But I had to install the xliveless xlive.dll in order to do so. But when I uninstalled the xliveless xlive.dll and tried to start up the game after saving my new Stats values, GTA IV wasn't able to load the game save. I'm guessing that this is because of a Games for Windows Live issue and that it might not be possible to edit the Stats values in GTA IV without compromising your game save to be able to play it again while logged into Games for Windows Live.
I even tried the Games for Windows Live Protection Disabler ASI Script that's available for GTA IV instead of the xliveless xlive.dll. But this time I wasn't able to find nor edit any Stats values. Can someone please help me out with this if it's even possible?
Does that protection disabler only disable the memory integrity check?
xliveless disables the security so you can debug and inject.
Use xliveless and find what accesses the stat address. Save it and find what addresses access it without xliveless. You'l crash the game but still get the address.
If you still need to disable integrity checks to change stats, see Psych's post _________________
Well, here's the description in the ReadMe.txt that came with the GfWL Protection Disabler:
Code:
Many coders which had worked with xlive-using games know that xlive.dll
provides memory and code protections , so there are no ways to change
main executable code. This asi plugin disables live code protections,
so u can feel free with changing code of xlive games
(ofcourse including GTA IV).
ASI Loader also can work with all dsound using games and applications.
Tested only with xlive.dll v2.0.0687.0
So, I guess it does disable the memory integrity checks. Thanks for that link to Psych's post!
But when I thought I found the Stats value that I want to change without the xliveless xlive.dll nothing is changed in the game when I changed the value in Cheat Engine.
EDIT: Most likely the GfWL Protection Disabler isn't compatible with the latest version of xlive. I'll try out what Psych has posted in the link you gave me and see if I'm able to edit my Stats values that way.
