So scientists have created artificial life, no doubt this is a huge step and could create a lot of solutions and problems. Do you think it is ethical to continue with this?

Edit:

i belive that this is the way, ethical or not. My opinion is that they should continue the experiments. i belive that Therapeutic cloning should be legal to (it's not where i am from) but the fact is, that it would could help humans in every kind of way. then they debating about it's okay to help people, which is kinda lame.

Of course it's ethical. It opens up a lot of possiblities and doesn't hurt people (Except religious retards)

Also, the word 'life' is taken a bit broad here. It's currently at most a bacteria. Is it unethical to use anti-biotics to kill them?

They started (to test the DNA construction) on a virus (used because they only have around a 6,000 strand DNA ). They programmed it's code into a computer and synthesized it and perfectly replicated it. This means that it is possible to recreate any virus (hypothetically) which can cause problems. As for the religious most of them said they didnt actually care that they were making it, just how they put it to use.

But in the long run it can be used to create bio fuels (one method by taking CO2 from the atmosphere), clean up oil spills, actually there are countless possibilities. Hell it's probably possible for them to slow down the propagation of free radicals (Things that are destroying the ozone).

Ethics/morals never belong near science.

Why do you think that? A good case is nuclear bombs. (I agree mostly with you, ethics does seem to be slowing science down by a fair amount)

People are afraid of new inventions, they fear that it would end up the opposite way and go against us. they don't seem to realize that if we don't advance, we would be stucked, and ending with destroying us self. as said, mostly religious retards go against science because their "god" would not like it... i found it complete unnecessary, because if we can't advance, it would not come itself, i might not be good at history, but i never heard god ever making such thing.

Was the invention of fire ethically good?
Towns burned down
People burned to death at the stake
Burn wounds

Was the invention of the spear ethical?
People impaled
Wars have been fought with them
Have been used to instill fear in peasants

Or explosives?
People blowing up buildings with bombs, and even killing innocent people just for fun

Nuclear knowlege:
Nuclear bombs, dirty bombs

Flight:
People crashing planes into buildings
Spreading diseases all over the world

Of course, they all have advantages that far outweigh the downsides
Fire:
Warm
Tenderizes food and helped humans into developing their brains
Used to melt metal and other ores
etc...
etc...

Spears:
Ability to hunt for bigger animals that would otherwise have killed the hunter instead (mammoth, elephant, etc...)

Explosives:
Clearing up debris, mining, combustion engine, etc...

nuclear knowledge:
Energy, ability to heal some forms of cancer

flight:
Ability to reach places that used to be impossible for the common person

------------------
In short, everything good can be used for evil with some tampering
