Its not the motherboard you need to worry about. It has a pcie x16 so it will physically take a gfx card. What matters is your psu. Whats its ratings?

I heard that gateway welds the add-on card slots in the back of their cases shut, thus barring you from putting in any add-on cards. Make sure first that you can take out the little plate that's adjacent to the pci x16 slot before even bothering. As for the video card, it depends on what you need. A 4670 will be way more than enough for most light games like TF2 and will do just fine on some lighter console ported games. you might want to go for a 5750 if your budget allows it, and you want to play more intense games. The cards I mentioned don't guzzle power and will do fine on a 300w power supply, and I think most gateways have 300w psus. You may want to think about a psu upgrade though in the future, especially if you're opt for an even better card. 300 watts is a quite sketchy for 5770 or better. Also, a better power supply can be reused in another future build anyway.

I only read that in a review of one computer, but obviously op, or anyone installing an add-on card to a prebuilt computer should be aware that he could potentially go to install a card and find that he can't remove the plates to let the back of the card stick out the back of the case.

5770 would run on a 380W psu with good rating. Do note that if your PC is a slim factor form, you would want something like 5450, 5670 with LOW PROFILE BRACKET as normal bracket would not fit in slim factor form.
If you are in needed of CUDA, there is low profile 210,220 with 32CUDA cores.

32 cuda cores can't do shit in even games. Would not recomend. However, low profile 4670s are fine. op prolly doesn't have a need for low profile anyway.

Never heard of that, but I doubt Gateway does that. Although I do know Dell likes to do is cripple the PCIe x16 slot by installing a divider or two right smack in the center to prevent users from installing any graphic cards at all.

So, they cripple it so they need a dell brand gfx card literally? Like sapphire or xfx, but a dell? WHAT KIND OF BULLSHIT.

MAKES ME RAGE. Is it possible to take the plastic part off of a pci slot, just leaving the connectors sticking out of the board?

Dell PCIe mod
Not a promotion of other sites or forums.
On another site, a person with a different Dell system has the same problem and what's funny is the advertised specs clearly says a PCIe x16 slot. Who would have known the PCIe x16 doesn't allow you to actually insert a PCIe x16 graphic card.
