|
|
Hi!
I am using the dissect data function regularly to find differences between sections of a game. I am aware that CE 5.6 is using a new method compared to CE 5.5. What I would like to point out, that for me at least, the old method worked better. When I have used the old method, it has "detected" the type of the values in the section with awesome accuracy and 4 byte values were really for 4 bytes values and float values were really displayed in float. It was awesome. But in CE 5.6, it is barely working. Float values are usually displayed as 4 byte values which is actually ruining the whole concept. I am not able to clearly see the values and differencies if the data is displayed in the wrong type. The other problem is if I change the types of the values manually in the table (which is very annoying), the values will be displayed in the new type, but the description of the type of the value will remain the same. In the previous version, changing the values type and the description of the type in the table was better.
I am sure that there is a reason why You use a new method in CE 5.6 but it is just not working correctly for me. Am I the only one with this issue? Did I set something wrong (though I usually did not change the default settings)? Am I able to use the old method in CE 5.6 somehow?
By the way I am using 5.6.1 beta now, but this issue is happening since 5.6 was released. Since it is not a bug, I did not report it so far, but why not post it in the forum... Maybe it can be solved easily.
Thanks.
Have a Nice Day!

Geri, are you sure they are shown as 4 byte values (DWORD)? Not as pointer ? (there's a difference, dword=unknown, pointer=detected as pointer location)
edit: Ok, I see the problem, at the end when nothing has been 100% detected, it picks dword, even when it has set the hint that it might be a float
See, it was a bug after all

Thanks for checking it. This feature is very useful and important for me (and I guess for others too). If it is a bug, I hope You will be able to fix it.

Thanks, I have tested it with a game which is using Float values. This version is showing the values accurately. Very cool.
Thanks for the quick fix.
EDIT: I have tested it in 3 games with float values, it has worked correctly in all cases.
