Would it be possible to add a "scan mode" feature with 2 options: Loose and Exact?
If one searched "loose", searching for 84 would return 84, 840, 684, etc.
If one searched "exact", searching would just return 84.
Thoughts?

My initial thought was if someone was scanning for a text string or something like that in a game and it used a character/symbol they didn't know the alt code for, they could just type in some of the plain english part.
May have other uses for other types of scan, as well.

If you do a text scan it is already like the 'loose' method. ce doesn't care if before or after the found string are extra characters
You just have to browse the memory results manually to confirm it's what you want

Back in the days of DOS, there was a tools called Game Wizard.
This tool was quite clever. When you searched for 1, it actually searched for 1 and 255 (which is -1) at the same time. It was quite useful because some games stored values as negative ones - I guess it was some sort of attempt to protect it from hackers, but apparently the protection did not live long...
