I just installed the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus and I've gotta say it's VERY effective . I went from 42C idle to 16C idle!
Any ways, the cooler came with a 4-pin fan and my motherboard only have 3-pin connectors so I had to turn off the smart fan control in BIOS so now the fan is running on 100% all the time. It's is pretty quiet though(much more quieter than the stock) but I was wondering if there is a way to use the speed control even without a 4-pin connector?

Make sure it's a PWM fan controller dial if you get one, since 4 pin fans almost always use PWM and not current limiting. The really cheap fan controllers just stick a potentiometer (variable resistor) in series with the fan, which isn't anywhere near as precise as PWM and can reduce fan life. It's also been known to increase fan noise since the motor is designed to work on PWM. _________________
