| Ok, the boot.mgr is on xp. If I just delete it, I am positive I won't be able to boot. How do I go about getting rid of the xp, and not killing w7?

Did you install 7 after XP? Pretty sure XP's bootloader wouldn't recognize later OSes...
You can "reinstall" the 7 bootloader from inside or recovery prompt on DVD and commands like "bootrec /fixmbr", "bootrec /fixboot", "bootrec /rebuildbdc".

Ok I just deleted xp and did a fix install of w7. Everything is cool.
BTW, when you install w7 side by side with xp, it makes the w7 partition the "boot", and leaves xp as system. Now it just has the boot manager on a 100mb partition thats hidden but shows up as system on most disc manager programs. I guess its an idiot protection.
