A quest to procure three (3) laptops with three (3) common requirements:

    - screen size must be larger than 13 inches
    - durable - can run for 7 years nonstop on a stationary desk
    - not HP or Dell


If you can allocate 3000 USD however you like on three laptops (e.g. $1700, $900, $400), which three laptops would you buy?

G73Jh-A1 + customization/aftermarket upgrades. I have mine ordered. Can't fit 3 of these babies into a $3k budget, but I'd rather have a high-end desktop + any leftovers for a moderate lappy/netbook.

It is. It has a "mobility 5870", which is just about the most powerful graphics you can get in a laptop.
