Upgrade is from like Home to Pro, then Pro to Ultimate, or Home to Ultimate.
Full is uh like a flat out install of W7 with Ultimate i think?

Ahh, I just worked it out.
I didnt realise there was a Windows 7 Starter, and it didnt make sense that you could have an 'upgrade' from nothing.

Why do you pay less to keep your files?

For Upgrade you need to already have XP or Vista or a previous version of 7. You need full for a blank hard drive.
(I'm pretty sure)

Windows 7 upgrade disc media itself is essentially identical to the full version. The difference is in the serial key. There are some pretty easy workarounds (no 1337 hacking skills needed) that allow you to use upgrade media (and the key) for full installs.

What I want to know is, I have no previous OS, can I buy an upgrade and use this method to install Windows 7 upgrade even though I have no previous CD Keys?

Just get a OEM version of Win7, full and half the price.
