Which program is best to start with?
3dsMax, Maya or C4D?
I'll be focusing on trying to create characters.
IMO Maya looks like the more powerful program among the three but then I'm clueless in this area.
3dsMax, Maya and C4d just looks so similar to eachother but then I don't even know what they're best for.
I'll be trying to learn Zbrush along with it too.

try blender, it's alot different than other programs, but it's good if you don't wanna spend any money on a program.

I started with Maya, it's simple to use but has a lot of advanced features you can unlock to use later. It also has its own scripting language (MEL) which is pretty awesome and character rigging is awesome in it too. 3DS Max I hear is much better in terms of modeling and rendering cause it has a lot more plugins.

Blender makes 0 sense.
Lightwave has viruses.
CB model pro is pretty neat, and free too.

So it's Maya when you don't have plugins for 3ds max?

I'm pretty sure that the program that I took a two week long summer course working with and then I bought for 100 dollars does not have a virus.

I do believe all 3D programs would make 0 sense at first.

If you're just going to be modeling characters, 3DSMax, if you plan on rigging and animating, I'd start with Maya. Just my opinion though.

Well I want to animate it as well. Can't I import and stuff?
What's XSI?
eh I just want to start off at a good program that can handle what I want to do so that I won't have to learn a new one, once I get the hang of it. >____>
