is there a better alternative other than taking it to blockbuster or rubbing toothpaste on it?

Download it, use your cd key that came with the disk.

My best advice is to use turtle car wax, works pretty well but perfect circle scratches are usually only fixable by using a GameDR to buff the CD.

You should get a d skin cover for your disk, it protects the disk against the scratches. Oh yeah, and find a place near you that has resurfacing machines, it should be of no cost to get your CD resurfaced, which will most likely allow it to be used again.

| True, moving your console causes the scratches also, but there are some consoles (including the one I had) which will scratch discs without being moved at all, mainly while in the vertical position.
