|
|
I know how to make/find a multi-level pointer, but it's tedious work. So I thought I'd give the pointer scanner a try.
So I tried step 8 in the tutorial. I choose to only show the static pointers that it finds, I pick a random multi-level pointer in the list and add it manually, the pointer works, but it doesn't seem to be static, because when I click Change Pointer it's still pointing to the old address. Why is this? Aren't all the pointers in the list static?
EDIT: Actually, I think the pointer breaks as soon as I close the pointer scanner.

The pointerscanner doesn't find only the correct pointer, it also finds a billion wrong pointers
Thats why YOU HAVE TO USE THE RESCAN OPTION all the time. No exception, no matter how small or easy the game is, you always have to rescan.
After the pointer has been changed, do a rescan for the new address (or value since you know the value as well)
repeat that a few times, perhaps even close the tutorial and go back to step 8 and rescan again
and you'll be left with a list of pointer that's pretty much valid all the time.
Also, step 8 is a level 6 pointer, make sure you did use the proper scan settings. (e.g level 6)

| Restarting the tutorial and rescanning is brilliant, thanks.
