how would each and every setting affect the use of CE?
i wanna toggle 2 different breakpoints, or rather change registers at 2 different locations.. so i played around with the settings unknowingly..

i tried on different computers, and somehow different results show
computer 1:
this computer has the default extra settings... when i change registers at one location, CE will prompt "this will attach the debugger".. i go to another register and change register.. it works

computer 2:
this computer cannot run on the default settings.. once i change any one register, my game freezes.. so i have to use the kernelmode debugger.. but using the kernelmode debugger somehow only allows me to change ONE register at a time.. (or rather, changing it at a 2nd location gives no effect)

let me gues, maple?

use hardware breakpoints for breakpoints instead of int3. It won't write a int3 instruction when breaking.

levis, if you where using the beta of ce 5.2 before I recommend reformatting your computer. Or search through the register and remove all mentioning of cedriver52 as passible, and reboot.
then uninstall ce.
reinstall ce
and then it should work
I get tired of people that used the buggy 5.2 beta I gave to a few people and now can't get it to work anymore

you can set more than 1 breakpoint with the kernelmode debugger , the beta driver just couldn't and you still have that loaded

Ya the 5.2 beta screwed my XPpro from using the"debugger"
I cleaned the registry of every trace of any CE.
(including the ones that I had to change permissions for)
Still can't attach the debugger the game(s) just close and CE locks on "Changed addresses"
When I try to close the box I get a "Access violation error"

It works fine on a clean duel boot install.

Also the HyperScan works, well kinda,
If you wait after the error message long enough the HyperScan will take place.
(very fast indeed!)
It will show the addresses found but "Next Scan" remains grayed out.
Perhaps a timing issue?

wierd.. i dont remember having installed the 5.2 beta on my computer that doesnt work for this case... instead, the computer that i can run all my "registers changing" on, has been installed with the beta before..

ok here goes.. say i have this code 00112233 - jne 123456.. i wanna change the register to zero flag... i've tested this on my computer (which has been beta-ed before) and it works. now i go to my friend's comp (no beta-ed), and i try it and CE just freezes. now i go to a 3rd comp (no beta-ed), and try it and it works... somehow.. lol

getting very confused with this... btw which do u suggest i use? kernelmode or the default windows debugger?

if the default debugger works uses that, it's more compatible/stable

There are some differences between intel and amd, but I had some people with amd's test it and they had no problem.

One other thing that might/will mess stuff up is running protectionsoftware like blackice, processguard ,norton etc...

well sorry to bump up an old post.. hey guys, i just did a format on my comp, so that'd should have cleared all registry values of 5.2 beta... however, it seems that i have a different problem now...

before format:
my settings was just "open process" and all works well.. the default debugger and all... (and yes i installed 5.2beta once)

now after format:
if i use just "open process" my game crashes after awhile.. so i suppose the default debugger is messing things up.. and if i use kernelmode, many things cant be done...

i dont suppose it has anything to do with hardware (ie Amd vs Intel) i suppose its the software environment? any advice?

do you open the process by clicking ok or by clicking on attach debugger ? (the ok one is prefered)

if it is a game with protection go to settings and disable "use hyperscan when possible" the probe itself can mess up protections

i click the "ok" only.. i tried ur modified dbk32.sys which u uploaded in another thread... and even with that, i use kernelmode debugger, the game still crashes in awhile

my settings was just "use kernelmode debugger options whenever possible"

I guess the game just doesn't like being debugged then... (e.g starforce games)

I heard from some people that norton interferes. But usually when used with other protection software.

But I really think it is your settings. Download cheat engine , install it, then uninstall it, and reboot. Then reinstall it and all your settings will be reset to default.
(or delete hkey_current_users\software\cheat engine) and reboot

Also, what are the results when you run the kerneldataretriever?
