Thinking that neither work well at all. :/

Try a 1px black border...?

Also, you should make the pentooling swirling around your object; not just flat on top of it.

First one's border is fitting, the pen tool doesn't stand out, if you were trying to make it stand out, then add some effects

overall, i like it

oh crap! I completely forgot about the pentool! I wish I could fix it but I had to flatten the whole image to 1 layer to add the lens flare
