i hate the icon for google chrome.
is it possible to change it to something custom?

What do you mean? When the browser is open or just the icon on the desktop?

Download Reshacker
Navigate to C:\Users\YOUR-PCNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\
Edit chrome.exe on ResHacker
Replace the icon with the desired Icon
Save
????
Done.
