This is my first signature, made with gimp. Criticism and improvements?

Made another, gimp again. I'm hopeless at text.

too small (in my opinion)
text shouldn't be too big but the font is ok I guess
you didn't blend the render with the background and it's a bit too dark

I agree, the render doesn't show up properly. It was my original idea to make the background dark, but it looks like I may have been overly gothic.

try using the dimensions, 400 x 150
and try to blend it as much as possible. You (usually) want your render to be the thing that stands out the most but still blends with the background

this is one of my sigs from a while back
notice how mario stands out the most, but looks naturally blended with the background

Made this before I saw your post. I think the render shows up a bit more, but I'm hopeless with text. Looking at some of the other sigs on CEF, I reckon my text should be smaller.

You should try to avoid those "flashy" text, they only work in certain situations. Your best best would be to go with something simple.

Ty. It's nice to be able to draw something that doesn't look like a kindergarten's picture. If you saw me draw in real-life, you'd know why I said that.

How should I make my text look good, even in it's simpleness? I would appeciate knowing, so can draw better sigs.
