I was wondering if any one else because I have been at my school for about 3 months and I am a yellow belt. Its mostly self defense techniques and its a mixture of Krav-Maga, Karate, Kali and some other techniques.

I do krav maga, but I wouldn't quite call it a martial art. It's an excuse for being able to fight as dirty as you want, using anything around you as a weapon. I can't imagine trying to combine it with another fighting style as you explained that you do in your post. It focuses on 1) your opponent having no fucking idea what the hell you're about to do and 2) your opponent making a mistake.

Agreeing with talix if someone is fighting you I'd do everything in my power to stop them, but if you are sparring its different.

Also response to phox, well my school is a kajukenbo based school and their basic training is they teach a little from different styles. They don't let you into kajukenbo though you have to be invited.
So its not like a style thats based around it, they just sort of teach chunks from different arts. Really they teach us like disarms, what to do when choked or your wrist is grabbed or grabbed from behind and they teach us the technique to break it.

There's no such thing as fighting dirty. In fighting, there are no rules, you're fighting for fuck sakes.
One's trying to hurt another, it's that simple. You're either defending yourself or trying to hurt someone. In both ways, there's no fighting dirty. Now, if you're doing it competitively with a set of bullshit rules, then you can worry about those.

Sadly, causing more damage than needed will put you in jail even thou we all know he was going to assault you.
