| Don't mind it but maybe use a grey background and instead of having varying opacity try a base colour. Such as a lime/pale green.

These "Simple" wallpapers that consist of nothing but a black background a crappy logo on the top are not really good. There's also a tendency for people to use the biohazard(or whatever) logo for these same type of pieces. It's overused, lacks a lot of things, does not look good, and it's dull/bland.

| Well, I disagree with the most part of your point though I do agree that this specific piece could be improved. Simplicity is not always a bad point to artwork and I feel it is unfortunate that you might think so. The biohazard sign may be overused but so are many of the styles used in this art section, yet they are most often praised.

The problem with what you call "Simplicity" is that it becomes very easy to step into the field of what is bland. You can stick to something simple and still have a lot of detail though; this I enjoy. I don't want to bash on anyone here, but please don't justify dark, boring, emptiness by saying "simplicity"
@The praise part:
I don't know if you've noticed this yet, but few, if any, people here have skill. Few know how to criticize or compliment a real art piece.
Proof: the SOTW that this subforum hosts. We pretty much accept any piece of crap as good. Show this to a real art community and they will find a thousand negative things to say.
I find that the problem with people here is that everyone replies too kindly. Because of this, everyone keeps doing the same crap over and over again. They don't improve because they see all the positive remarks that inexperienced people are giving(I'd like to point out that I am also not saying I'm experienced). You(generally speaking) need to tell everyone what is wrong in order for them to advance; this is part of the reason why i tend to be so much on the negative side of the crap that's posted around here.
I apologize if i'm sounding too much like an ass, but kindness is no reason to accept/justify what in reality is bad.

The way I see simple being good is when things work without a crowded or detailed image.
Take S3NSA's piece here: [Link] Works perfectly without being detailed. That is why I appreciate simplicity.
