This was really simple to make and can be used to turn off your computer after a specified amount of time.

Has options to restart instead of shutdown, and has a Parental Control option where the program becomes invisible and continues to run even if the countdown gets closed. I'm working to add a process stealth mode, but haven't gotten around to it. If your kid doesn't know how to open Task Manager then you're all set.
