Idk why, when I put it in, it makes 3 noises (weird ones) and it doesn`t start up. but when I put my other one back in (1GB/512MB/512MB/512MB) it works. I can be more specific if anyone needs more info. Pls help lol. _________________ Same thing, different day.

Is it inserted into the socket correctly? The beeps you heard probably has this pattern: long, short, short, pause, short, short, short.

No it was inserted correctly, I pushd it down all the way so I could here the switches click in. I press the power it doesn`t power on it just makes noises. _________________ Same thing, different day.

What motherboard do you have? Exactly which Ram do you have? Those motherboard beep sounds are your beep codes. Most of the time 3 beep codes are a RAM problem. The beeps are a good thing, so don't worry about the beeps. The RAM stick is the only problem. _________________

Check your bios for RAM speed settings: If it says Auto, take a look at the options they have. If it has the option sync, use that.

Did you match your RAM with your motherboard? The weird sounds is the motherboard telling you something is wrong, its also called beep codes. Contact your motherboard manufacturer and get a beep code chart so you know what your motherboard is trying to tell you.

I`m pretty sure it was the RAM issue, but it`s weird, because I took 512MB ram sticks from another dell computer. Put it in my computer, it worked fine. Then I took 1 1GB RAM stick from my computer and tried to put it into the other Dell computer (Duo 2) processor and it made the same beeping noises. But when I put in the 256`s from my computer it worked fine...
