I've watched all the episodes, and I have the movies. However, I've not watched them yet.

My friend tells me they're godawful and he wished he'd never watched them. What did everyone else think of them?

Trust me, it's really bad (I only watched the first one). They moved too far from the storyline, added in a bunch of shit, mixed a bunch of crap. What took the anime to show in an hour took the movie two hours.

I suggest that if you have never watched the original anime...then go ahead and watch the movie first then the anime. Because anime main points are cool hair and eyes that they just can't replicate in real life even with CGI effects. So watch those movies first then have you breath taken away by the anime.

The reason you don't see many anime movies like the death note ones is mainly because they are not brave enough to face critics that will shun them.
