I started playing a game on myspace called mobsters and I want to make a bot for it but never really tried to make a java based bot before any suggestions on where i should start

You could either make something that sends packets that progress the game like you would. OR you could make something that sends mouse clicks. I know you can do both with Java, but the second C++ might be a better choice.

if you mean compiler ide for java. theres netbeans and jcreator. for an actual way to do it use the robot class

you could use AutoIT, it's pretty good for these sorts of tasks

Thats find of funny, as I help my girlfriend edit mobsters so she can have unlimited money. If you are looking for that it might be a little trickier due to the fact the address always changes when loading the game (it is never the same) so you have to search and find the address everytime. But what are you looking for it to do, play the game for you or what?

serversided? don't quite know what that means.

Chaosis13 they have mobster games to play that are flash. But the stats are in html.

There is server-sided and client-sided games.

Server-sided: Server stores values and updates client. Client sends information on what it is doing, and server confirms it.

Client-sided: Client stores values and updates server. Server doesn't do much.
