I have been trying to install steam on my laptop, but every time I start the "SteamInstall.msi" i get an error message saying
Code:
Error 1606. Could not access network location
\\tori\MyDocuments\tom.dalbec\My Documents\My Pictures\

What do I do to install steam?

+rep for the person who help me out

Try copying SteamInstall.msi to your desktop and double clicking it there.

It looks like it is trying to install it on another computer, via network, or to My Pictures, Tried changing the install location?

And are you sure you didn't just make a shortcut to it?

actually no, I am installing it on the the computer i am running it on, no networks or shortcuts involved, I also don't have the faintest idea of what the network location "tori" is. Also, the error message pops up when i click on "SteamInstall.msi" and a window pops up saying "computing space requirements"...

1. Download Steam to your Desktop.
2. Unplug internet from the computer.
3. Right Click and Run as Administrator.
4. Install normally to C:\Program Files\
5. Shutdown
6. Reconnect Internet
7. Turn on PC
8. Run Steam

Sounds like you have some registry problems.

Easiest solution, try making another administrator account, and installing for all users from that, then deleting it.
