What the fuck happened to the guy with black/white sking?

He looks like a fucking pharoah or something. And the last time i saw him, he was trying to kill some weird guy with glasses, Quincy or something. He still has that fucked up grin though.

And now the sword/pet things are released. That looked rather epic

he was always like that. NOTICE, kenpachi isnt there. he has no bankai or special form for his zanpaktou.
