I did research on SMPP and SMS programming on found out a couple of interesting things. A computer can send a text message to a phone if the correct gateway is specified and the structure of the data sent is correct.

Structure(s) of SMS

Gateways

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this subject. I want to see if I got the concept correct.

I'll use Winsock to make a TCP socket where I'll send information in the format of one of the structures above to the gateway. I don't have a phone to trial-and-error on, but hopefully someone here already has the experience to tell me what to do.

If you can find a free gateway, then of course use it...

You ALWAYS need gateways for Internet -> SMS/MMS

Anyway, be aware this might charge the people receiving the text messages...

Thanks, I'll try it out; I'll eventually write my own library as soon as I get enough experience in SMS.
