In vista, there is this option "Copy, but keep both files"

But in XP there is only one option which is the cancel file replace.
Is there any way to get that vista function into XP? Maybe some program or tweak?

well really all its doing is renaming the file to testdoc (2) Unless you are mass copying and pasting i guess you could just rename it. Confused

ctrl + a, ctrl + c, ctrl + v. there you go all of your files are copied the same way in the same folder. so hard without the dialogue. Rolling Eyes

Ctrl+C Copies...
Ctrl+V Pastes..

That would still either replace or cancel in XP...

For all of you suggesting to just c+p; he's asking how to make a copy of a file in the same directory in XP and get Vista "copy but keep both files" options.

@OP, not sure if perhaps there's some software out there that might allow it or not, but I'd just create an extra directory and copy the file(s) if you want to have a clone of it still.

I don't think there's an append option in XP, though if you google it there might be a reg tweak.

All Vista does is rename the file to Filename (2).txt or whatever number is appropriate. Just rename the file and copy and paste.
