Yeah but RAM is probably your problem. What game are you talking about? And you should post your specs.

Of course it would run the game more smoothly if it uses both cores. Unless the dual core has less Ghz then the single.

Not neccesairely.
A 2.0 Ghz Core 2 duo, would most likely outperform a 3.0ghz P4 processor

It depends if the game can utilize the cores. For example, games like Crysis and GTA IV can utilize up to a quad-core, but some games can only use one core. Most games that only utilize one core are old, anyway.

Dual cores, as of now, are cheaper and can reach higher clock speeds than a quad-core, but if a game could utilize a quad-core, it would have better performance than running it on a dual-core with a higher clock speed.

Yeah, you should go and get a dual core so you can play that game then.

Your partly right.
Alot games can't use quadcore but 99% of all games can use dualcore because of direct X had that before dualcore acually came out.

no, DX itself isn't threaded by nature (well, 11 and on will be).

also any major engine out there already supports 4+ cores, especially those that also target consoles as they have tons of threads to possibly leverage.

I know, but DX got it at DX 3 (I think).

Did you just skip over what I wrote or what

it's up to the programmer to thread their engine, it's not a DX feature that magically works out of the box.

Sorry I was unclear, I ment before that it wasn't possible to code for
dualcore but DX was ready for it.
Yes I know its about the engine, i've been helping designing a game before
and I got abit hints about how to code an engine.
