1. How the hell would youtube know if my music is copyrighted?
2. My musics are very common, like linkin park or whatever, how so others dont get their videos disabled?

http://www.youtube.com/t/contentid
when you upload a video youtube immediately scans for it's sound and detects whether it's copyrighted song or not and automatically mutes the sound.
Before the content ID was released people were uploading copyrighted songs and copyright owners had to remove the songs. Some songs became very popular (10m+ views) and so the copyright holders just don't take them down because they would lose popularity) lol w/e idk what i just wrote hope u understand.

last question
do you mean that they will detect the sound and delete the vid if they found a match? but then, even if i download an illegal work, it could be completely the same as a legal CD or a download from the web, how would they solve that then? i could just go and said i get the song from a CD in the credits. cant i?

| Copyrighted means you don't own the song, not that you don't have it bought in your home, but you didn't created it therefore YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO PUT IT WHEREVER YOU WANT so other people could hear it without purchasing it. They mute the sound. The video will have no sound in it unless the video itself is copyrighted (like a prison break episode ect.

First of all, the copyright owners have to write to youtube what songs they want to be added to content ID. Ovbiously most of the songs aren't youtube "copyrighted" (they are still copyrighted, and by the way when the video sounds gets muted by youtube you can audioswap to other song that youtube recommends to you or choose one from a list. The songs are copyrighted, but some of the song makers aren't that popular so they just let everyone use their songs on youtube to get more popular, it's free promotion

but the songs i used are so common, like diary of jane by breaking benjamin or in the end by linkin park
i see many of the ppls using those songs, how you explain that? i saw vids added like 2 weeks ago with these songs and havent got removed, that means its impossible for the artist to say they are too famous and will add the song to the copyrighted list

It's up to the song owner to decide if they want their stuff to be removed from YouTube, this is why not every video is muted/deleted due to copyright.
Ways to get around it? Speed up the sound in your video. It works/worked for some people.
