| My computer became really slow because of a virus. I want to delete everything in the hard drive except the OS because I bought a pre-built laptop with the OS installed. Help please.

Most likely the virus is infecting system files too. You'd be better off either trying to get help to remove the virus or wipe the whole drive (format) and use a recovery CD (assuming you made one?)

Why not just re-install the OS?
Seems more convenient to me. Safer as well.

I agree.
I never bother with removals when I know I have a virus.
I just straight out reformat, because there is always a possibility that your PC is still open to viruses... I never feel safe on my PC after a virus without reformatting...

I'm assuming that means he doesn't have the disc, unfortunately.

He can create a recovery disc.
What laptop brand and model?
