This is what happened...

1. Friend's system is severely infected.

2. Went to safemode with networking, install malware-bytes, try to update (but cannot), so I've started a scan (quick mode) with whatever I've got.

3. After the scan, went back to normal mode and the malicious software still remains. Used another system to download the latest version of malware bytes, installed and rans the scan again (quick mode).

4. After the second removal and restart, try to update malware bytes and this time I was able to (found out it was Kaspersky's Network filter that's causing it, and all I had to do is disable it) and once again did a quick scan and this time it got rid of that nasty bugger after the system restarted for the 3rd time.

5. After using malware bytes, I've then used AVG (free edition, his removed his Kaspersky as it's subscription was expired), but his system is acting strange, so I've took out the HD, hooked it up as a 2nd drive on another system and ran AVG from there. It found a lot of infected files and once it was done, I've took the drive back and at first I didn't notice until I wanted to get online and that's when I found out, none of the network adapters are working.

In device manager, under the Network Adapters category, all of them got a yellow exclaimation m_ark. Going into their properties shows a error code 39 message. Try to uninstall, but it says cannot uninstall as this device is used for booting. Try to update drivers and fails displaying the same error 39 message.

6. Went online to look for solutinos, tried with whatever I can find and none seem to be working.

Suggestions tried:

-Enable hidden devices in Device Manager, remove the devices which also have the yellow mark, but it didn't help as the network adapters still cannot be removed.

-Removal of network adapters through registy, managed to get all of them except for 2 wan miniIP ports. Restart and didn't work

-Did a repair install, didn't work

-Ran SpyBot S&D, found additoinal malwares, removed them and does not help.

-Install my USB wirless card (never used on his system) and it's still the same error along with that yellow m_ark.

Please help!

Suggestions, solutions, or whatever you can think of are all appreciated.

Also tried this option today...

Remove the entire network registry entry key (site warns not to or else you'll never get your network adapters back), but since they're not working, what I've got to loose? So I remove it.

After restart, network adapters category in Device Manager is not there anymore and installing additional network will lead to a .inf is missing file error. Took a clean system and exported that same registry entry and import to the offending system (hoping will work), sadly... nope it does not. Sad

iIf your reformatting i really suggest windows 7.
