What about you learn how to program instead?
Or google game engines? I don't know, I've never used any but all I know comes out of them is failure.

Wasn't DirectX created for the sole purpose of creating 3d games...?

you can make a good game with fps creator or other programs if you can script and model.

Why can't you?
Better yet, why do you have to use a free open source engine?

Go mod an existing engine from a popular game. Source, Unreal, Crysis all come to mind. All the gameplay code is exposed, nothing is stopping you from making an entirely new game other than how skilled you are.

Not to mention you'll already have a toolset and a proven, up to date engine that's already powered AAA titles.

which is exactly why i said

what you are offering here is not a game engine anymore, its a programming language. in this case, why not just use your favorite programming language with a directx wrapper?

Because it's a monumental amount of work to get your own engine running? Why bother when it's all provided for you and it's something better than one could ever hope to do alone? Modern engines are millions of lines of code...

Nothing's stopping you from creating a really pretty Tetris on the same engine that ran Crysis or some shit AND as a bonus you don't need to touch any engine innards. Writing gameplay code is a far cry from writing engine code.

Development studios don't pay for engines for shits and giggles. It takes a LOT of effort and time to get any kind of respectable tech running if you want to create a modern title.

Is that to say you have to create the next AAA engine? No, but it's certainly going to be easier to use a base for your project so you can focus on actually creating a game instead of something to run it.

I was passively targeting the engines these guys uses, which is not any engine that goes far down like CryEngine or the Unreal engine.
They use programs and click'n'create shit, it's doomed to fail you know?

But sure, if you enjoy shit like that. Rolling Eyes

Games aren't generally made with software, unless you feel like being extremely limited.
I'm talking about the easy game creators like Game-Maker, FPS Creator, DarkBasic, etc.
You need to look into stuff that requires a bit of coding, like Flash or RGSS2.
