No, there is a reason for that. In an mmorpg, probably 95% of communication with other players is done through typing. You can't type without a keyboard. Yes, you could plug a keyboard into one of the USB ports in the PS3, but barely anyone would. Also, a lot of attacks are done through clicking a button on the screen with your cursor (which you sometimes need to do quickly, which requires a mouse) or by pressing a hotkey, which again requires a keyboard.

Why do you think Oblivion isn't an online game? It simply wouldn't work. MMORPGs are way different than Single Player RPGs.
