Is it easy to control? | 	  Yes, It works kinda thesame as the lasso, you can even Ctrl+alt+Z it. also, when your finished you have to right click > make selection and you're done.

				Lasso is most used ... well almost never becaue even if you got a tablet, with a tablet is easier to select with the masking tool xP
 
oh yeash I just remembered, its used for conceptual cropping and organic fragmentation of images n.n

				| Quick Mask (Q) and running over with a big soft brush, and then a small hard brush works well for mainly solid (not many white spaces) images. But I use the pen tool more often.
