Well over the summer im going to take a prog language, and there are all sorts of classes. I was wondering which language would be generally the most simple one, and most helpful. I was thinking java or C++, or VB If you say a language that im not sure they have i will check.

Dont take VB..you could learn that on your own. C++ or Java. I'd go with C++ but meh both have thier benefits

I had goo experience with VB as first language, it can do nearly anything as long as you only use windows, but from VB it's hard to change to any other language because of the big differences.

I think flash might be good when you want to go for games or designing sites or something like this.
VB for usefull (small) applications or 2D games on windows.
C/C++ can do anything it's just much harder to make stuff like games with it.

C# is the only i wouldnt recomend, not realy powerful and needs .Net, i would recommend VB when you were thinking about C# (when you are seaching for a windows only language)

C# is a great language to learn, if you ever plan on being a developer for anything, you will do well in the field.

You also have the XNA library for C#, allowing you to port games/applications to the Zune and Xbox 360.

you kidding ? i think eclipse is nicer than visual studio 2008.. once you get used to it, it does nifty stuff like finish off end brackets, quotes, etc. and the 'suggestions' on warnings/errors that you can click to take is also very useful
