5) app store, then down the bottom click updates. (Or on itunes click on applications tab)
6) Wait for the new one to get released
7) You can unlock it, using any sim

2: does the iphone require service for it to work on the internet throught wifi Not for Wifi, it connects like any other wireless device.
3: is the iphone camera good at all not really.

6: what one would you buy I have an ipod touch and like it, have no desire for iphone

Also, get the Apple iPod Touch (16-32 GB). Besides the phone and texting part, the camera and other features the iPhone has definitely doesn't make it worth it over the iPod Touch. The iPhone has a large monthly fee, an average about $80 if my research is correct. Getting EDGE is even more expensive.

Also, if you're not concerned about the price, get a 32 GB iPod Touch. I'd much rather have a phone (with its own separate battery, so I can call anyone I'd like) and an entertainment system (e.g. iPod Touch) rather than just getting the iPhone, mainly because if I play too many games and deplete the iPhone's battery, I will not be able to call anyone anymore.

* iPod Touch can hold up to 32 GB, iPhone only 8 GB

10: Both. I've had them since they came out. I cut service with AT&T though. First couple months, beautiful service, after about 4 months, all crackly and crazy.
11: iTouch of course. iPhone is shit. If you need to know why, it's because
1: iPhone service sucks
2: Without calling, iPhone is basically iTouch with an app of calling
3: iPhone is friggin bulky.

On the other hand
1: iPhone is strong (True story. I was eating out at a restaurant with my friend. I drop my iPhone while texting, it gets run over by a car <Like actual TIRE> and I pick it up, and it's fine, only a couple scratches and dents on it. I continue texting)
2: iPhone's camera isn't that bad, it's just blurry if you move it a LITTLE bit.

Get iTouch iPhone sucks.
