Good CPU, Motherboard, Ram, Windows, Hard drive
The only thing I don't really like is the 8800 GTS 512mb...
You don't really need a Q6600... The E8400 OC 3.60Ghz is great as it is...
Switch your Graphics Card...

With $368, you should wait for the next-gen high-end graphics cards (R800, GT300) rather than spend it now. DX11 codepath is a lot more efficient than DX10 (and DX10.1). It's a few months away. Of course, if you're really still impatient, you can try EVGA's step-up program if NVIDIA manages to get it out in 3 months (I don't think ATi vendors have an equivalent).

Beaware when switching between CPU companies such as Intel and AMD you must be sure that your motherboard suports the same socket.
E8400 uses LGA775...
There are LGA775, LGA1366, AMD2+, AMD2 etc...

No board with an AM2 slot will be able to hold an Intel processor.

But he can get a triple core proccesor right? those things are cool, and the reason being is i have been having issues with adobe after effects and rendering, so multitasking is + for me. Even then im guessing the graphics card would help too.

Depends on the chipset, just because a CPU fits the socket doesn't mean the motherboard can support it.

We hope.
DX10 is much quicker in a lot of ways, but has anyone actually managed to take advantage of this? (Well, except microsoft in Flight Sim)

Just add a little bit more ram.
Unless you want a super-computer, don't get me started. Lol.

Actually the 8800GTS 512 is supposed to preform better in most games besides call of duty compare to the 4830.
Considering that it overclocks so well, you can probably make it equivalent to the 4850.
However the Q6600 wouldn't be a bad choice to get, as it overclocks very well.
I had one in a build that I put together for a friend, overclocked to about 3.4, was able to get it to 3.6 but ran a bit hotter. Did it on a Xigmatek hdt-1283, an antec 900 case and from what I remember on the ASUS P5E motherboard.
If you want you probably could sell that 8800GTS and get the Q6600 and a GTX 260.
