Ok I'm making a build for my friend and he wants to be able to play some graphically demanding games. He asked me which brand of graphics card is better, Nvidia or Ati. As of right now, it seems to me its a very biased argument.

The graphics card can be about 150-200 dollars USD.

He really just wants to play like F.E.A.R and Crysis, other graphically demanding games.

So all summed up which card is worth the money, and can perform the best.

Extra: Just the core and ram because the graphics card isnt the only thing that matters.

Q6600core (im going to try and overclock for him)

Pick one:
HD4870 ($134 after rebate).
GTX 260 ($157 after rebate).

The difference isn't all that big, both cards will play things just about equally, given that you're playing games that aren't "optimized" for nVidia cards (as in, throttling ATi cards).

It's far too generalized to ask which company is "better". Depends on how much money you have.

Both ATi and Nvidia do not make the cards, but provide the GPU to 3rd party manufactures.

Which one is good depends on how reputable that company is in terms of build quality, warranty, and most importantly customer support.

Well yes, but seeing as how i have owned both types of cards and he has the money i needed someone elses opinion. I think im going to go with the HD4870
