I'm planning to build this, and I'm wondering if it needs a video card to function correctly:

Also, I can't decide whether to get a Wireless PCI-E Network Adapter, or a USB Network Adapter. Is one better than the other? To make things easy, I was just going to buy this to make things easy, but I don't know... http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=55310&vpn=PCBOWAU2-N&manufacture=Patriot

One more question: Will this build still have USB 2.0 ports? I'm aware that the case has USB slots, but I don't know if they'll be functional without more internal hardware. Do I need to worry about my USB ports, or does my build already allow me to use USBs?

Also, I know I'm being pretty cheap with the build, but I'm not using it for heavy game, I just need it to be fast & functional for everyday, computerized tasks.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131793 is your motherboard. In the details it says...

so no, it will not work without a gpu.

i'd go for a usb adapter so you can move it for a better signal.

4 x USB 2.0 ports are on the rear panel of your motherboard, most likely with a usb port on the board to connect the case usb wires.

Okay, I'll probably just grab a cheap video card that's compatible with this... but one question, does the video have to be compatible with the motherboard, or the processor?

I face palmed so damn hard. Look at the board it has a VGA D-sub. It has no on board because sandybridge has the video integration on the CPU.

I swear you people don't know shit.

The even funnier part is that if he went llano/AMD he would get 2x more performance of the same price.

The new APU coming is supposed to rip the Llano a new ass. 20%+ more gpu performance and 50%+ more cpu performance. But why would you get this in a desktop? I'd like a laptop like that though.

Edit: Have it backwards. 50%+ gpu improvement and 25%+ cpu improvement. And it uses like, 17w of power so battery life is amazing. I am definitely getting a new laptop with it just because I want it.

well that's a neat little feature, thanks for correcting me.

Intel HD Graphics 2000? what's an equivalent dedicated card to that?

Oh god, nothing? I could not describe anything worse than intel Graphics so, something from 15 years ago. Maybe a 3DFX card?

it's pretty safe to assume that no GPU actually exists in it, then, right?

for it to be considered a gpu, it should have to meet some sort of standard. i wouldnt want to lag trying to launch firefox.

Actually I heard that Intel 2000 is not bad as far as integrated goes. Nowhere near as bad as that disgrace, the 4500.

Nah its in there, its just not as good as AMDs new APU. Their cpu have radeon 6550 or something in them. Intel's just have that crappy onboard graphics integration on the CPU instead of motherboard. The 2600k has a 3000 HD on it. It can probably play some games on low but I wouldnt expect much. Its no different than the old way of it onboard, just now its completely located on the CPU.

Wait for the new AMD APUs I keep hearing they can do gaming like a beast. Not on max settings but still really well. This is the future of laptops I hope.
