Hello, I'm interested in buying a new processor, see right now i have a E8400 OverClocked to 3.60 and I want to get a quad core for my multi-tasking and gaming.
Now, really just one important quesiton is that if I buy a quad is it as simple as taking out the duo and putting in the quad?
Will there be issues like for the OS? Basically I just want to know what do I need to do if I want to get a new processor.

| That is basically all there is to it assuming the socket is the same.

If you're planning to get like, a Q6600, you'll be fine. Just pick anything that has the socket 775.

| I'd choose the Q6600 over the Q8200 though

Q8300s tend to be somewhat harder to overclock than Q6600s. Considering that you already have an overclocked E8400 it appears that getting a Q6600 might be a good thing.

| That's why it's a favorite compared to the Q(8/9)xxx's, that just means it's easier to overclock them further.
