I recently read that Microsoft has put a bounty on the person who created the Conficker worm. I was wondering how the police would know he was the one who coded it?

they have no clue who wrote it.
thats the point of putting bounty on them. so maybe some of his friends can backstab him. evil plan...
i heard the bounty is 250k for his head. how many ppl in the world u think will backstab their friends for that much money huh?

I think it was 500,000, but whatever...
And by the way - on the computer, you don't have any real friends, so I guess I have to say... everybody.

infact, microsoft has issued several 250k rewards for other virus/worm makers (ie Sasser,Blaster, MyDoom and Sobig) over the past years. but i think they only got Sasser so far.
then again if they are smart enough to make virus/worm undetected from microsoft, they should at least be able to make themself untrackable too and remove any traces

| M$ fails. Instead of doing it the high-tech way (by debugging and tracing the worm), they do it the low-tech way, by offering a reward. I bet the Conficker maker(s) won't be caught for at least 5 years.

Thats why you use the shift key when you put in a USB key. Maybe a guy in toronto, because Hak5's pandora's box is almost exactly like Conficker.

Do note that jail is for short term, and prison is for long term.
