I'd recommend digital ones.
The stick thingo is shit bcuz

1. u have to look at it, wen ur perfectly in middle
2. the stepping for each degree is too much so u hav to guess the number
3. Its inacurate

Its not exactly right, but it should give you a little info of how hot your pc is.
I.e.: If it is at 80 degrees Celsius, you know its too hot.

Unless you've placed the thermometer's sensor thing, that would be the ambient temperature, [inside] the case.
