Don't get that overly expensive RAM, 1066MHz DDR2 gives a very negligible performance boost over 800MHz DDR2. This is good. This is even better if you trust mail-in rebates (and can get over the SLi gimmick).

Disc drive is fine.

CPU is fine if you don't plan on overclocking. If you do, the q6600 is superior.

HDD sucks, do yourself a favor and spend like $15 more for this.

You'd be more than fine with a 500W psu. If you like PCP&C, get this. If you do choose to scrap the OS for an aftermarket cooler and a Q6600, however, stick with this one.

Headset: whatever.

Video card is good if you don't mind it being an open box item.

AS5 is fine.

The motherboard could easily be swapped out for an ASUS P5Q Pro for like $10 less. The specs are nearly identical.

Why buy an OS? Just torrent and burn vista ultimate and put the $100 you saved toward an aftermarket cooler and a 500/640GB HDD.

Case isn't bad, though it's not necessarily good either. I'd swap it for this.

Fable: Whatever.

What? I never bought a legit OS. A cracked version burned onto a DVD is the same thing as a "legit" disc.

You do realize that, if you use an OEM version of an OS, Microsoft won't give any support, right? You'd be in exactly the same situation if you fucked something up as if you were to use a pirated OS.

Sigh, if you're going 4800 series, get the new phenom II 940, and then a 790GX mobo.

It's about the same price, if not cheaper. And it's better.

And most definitely don't use stock cooling, yo.

Why won't you do it? its pretty simple and my friend have one that can pass Microsoft's WGA protection thing. Im sure it would save you some good money :/ and you could get a better cooling system , ETC

There are "Retail" and "OEM" versions of the same OS. Retail offers support, OEM doesn't.

The 'Specs' tab on Newegg, under 'Disclaimer' for the OEM version wrote:

Use of this OEM System Builder Channel software is subject to the terms of the Microsoft OEM System Builder License. This software is intended for pre-installation on a new personal computer for resale. This OEM System Builder Channel software requires the assembler to provide end user support for the Windows software and cannot be transferred to another computer once it is installed. To acquire Windows software with support provided by Microsoft please see our full package "Retail" product offerings.
