|
|
When using the injected pointer scan on Devil May Cry 4 DX 10 (under Vista x64, Quad core, 4 threads), the scan works as intended. However, when the results page is reached, the pointer is not added to the main window when double clicked and must be added manually. This does not occur under the default pointer scan and the address is added as normal.
Another thing I have found but have not tested with any other games is that when doing a default pointer scan more than twice, Cheat engine gives the error, "Error during scan: Failure copying target process memory." Only way to stop from getting this error is to restart cheat engine and re-attach to the process.
Sorry if this is a known bug.

I can't seem to reproduce the injected pointer scan doubleclick problem. Are you making sure you click on the base address of the pointer and not the offset ?
For the memory bug, most likely memory fragmentation if it's a big game (e.g ce allocates 1100MB ram for the copy, ce or a dll ce uses like ntuser.dll allocates 4KB ram, finally ce deallocates the 1100MB ram, next time the game has slightly grown and is now 1101MB ram, but no spot can be allocated since there's not a big enough contiguous chunk of memory free, a 64-bit version of ce might solve that problem, if it's ever ported)
You might also want to verify which version of CE 5.5 you're using. (go to the .exe, rightclick, properties, and go to the version tab)
I take it you are using the releases ce download from the website or thread on this forum right ? If not, it could be you're using an 'old' version. (5.5.0.29 is the final version of 5.5)

Yes, I am using the release version located on the front of the website. I'll see if I can produce a video of the problem.
As far as the Default Scan error, the game seems to only allocate 350MB-700MB of memory according to task manager.
I'll go ahead and start recording.

just check the version of your build at "program files\cheat engine\cheat engine.exe" anyhow and see if it's 5.5.0.29

I'll look at it, but as I said, you can get the version by rightclicking the exe and go to the version tab
yes, it's memory fragmentation. The memory usage is 600+MB (which means paged out is more)
And as the injected pointer scan, are you doubleclicking on the base address or only at the first offset alone ? (e.g keyboard press to open the branch) anyhow, no idea why it won't work for you
