You don't have to worry about the dimensions of the touch screen, all you need to be sure of is:
- the size of your monitor (in inches)
- whether it is wide-screen or not
As for the second part of your question...I've never seen these sorts of kits being sold before (lol) so I can't really help you with that. The only touch-screen computer I've seen in stores otherwise is some HP one. _________________

And, i am building my own handheld computer, so the dimensions are a big concern. _________________

If you're trying to replace a mouse completely, a touch screen is a bad idea. It's impossible to see exactly what you're clicking on and precision is difficult, too. A tablet would be the closest thing or a button mouse would take up very little room.
