I just installed a new modem it is the same model as my old one which had to be replaced because it died. Whenever I go on any game it will be fine for a minute or two then it will start lagging like hell and then I eventually lag out. Even on a game like maplestory this happens I have no problems downloading and surfing the net I still download at around 1mbps max. I tried ccleaner aswell it didn't help.
Any suggestions?
Btw my modem is a Netgear CG814WG V3.

check your firewall and protection from your antivirus.

The only game I mainly play is maplestory and I googled portforwarding etc for maplestory and it said it was not needed and my antivirus would not be the problem this only stared happening when I got a new modem.

take out ur internet cable, turn off power and wait 30secs - 1min. Reconnect everything

It seems to be working now. I logged into my router and it said some was trying to dos me o__o. So far everything is running smoothly I installed a firewall (will this protect me from dos?).

Depends what firewall. If you have the modem problem again, just cycle power. That usually does it.
