| try going online and look into making something called 'ultimate boot cd' its at http://www.ubcd4win.com/. I have 4 copys now because my laptops boot partition got currupted in a reboot and the geek squad couldnt fix it (no surprise there). any way that has some disk checkers on it that should i hope fix your comp. if you manage to get in you should back up your stuff and reformat anyway because odd's are its only a tempory solution what what ever caused it will do it again eventually. and no it wasnt cheatengine so no worry's there.

It could be Dual Engine. When GameGuard detects your Dual Engine it will restart your computer. But it isn't allowed for GG to destroy your computer. So i think that GG and something else are guilty.

yeah... in there quest to prevent hacking they go a bit far... Although once, it just shut my computer down the normal way... I was really suprised.. Suddenly it said Logging off, saving account data
And next time, it just restarted instantly. I had to fix my computer because of this a few times. Had to run checkdisk from linux... but that worked

Read the "Terms Of Agreement", if it say, we may damage your computer when hacking activities are detected, do you agree?
When the Terms Of Agreement doesn't say anything like this you can sue them. This will mean the end of GameGuard. This will also force maple to get another anti hack shield. If its not XTrap of PunkBuster, maple will by a easy hack application.

I don't know if you can do a system restore withouth going into window... But you could try to run checkdisk from a boot CD. The DOS command for that is chkdsk. To make sure it doesn't run in read-only mode do this:
chkdsk C: /f
That is, if C:\ is your boot drive...

if you have got the windows cd you can make your cd drive the first boot drive to boot up from cd and if it detects that there is something left of your windows installation it will ask you if you want to attempt to repair windows (I'm sure you know all this but just going through the motions here )
sometimes that works and you can rescue some of your saved work then, if you got an OEM version of windows that came preinstalled on your harddrive then you should have some sort of automated recovery system already set up but you did not say,
anyway I seem to remember something about my documents so when you do a repair everything in my documents is kept safe,
*[edit] ahh you got xp home edition cd I just rechecked ,
if you have to reformat because the repair fails then sorry but its all saves gone

no... chkdsk will run checkdisk. And you have to run it from a linux boot cd since you can't get into dos anymore on windows XP (fucking Microsoft)

I'm wondering if he has got a bios password from what he says about bootup mode. you can find the master bios passwords with a google search if he has.

i put in everyone one of those bios passwords from a bunch of sites and none of them work, it said somethin about removin the password manually by flippin a switch, but id probably obliterate my comp for sure that way |
They usualy don't fix it.... But maybe you can get your money back if they dont...
